Blog self-evaluation: Paste a final version of the blog rubric that you'll be using to evaluate your yourself thus far. Then do a preliminary self-evaluation based on the rubric. How would you grade yourself thus far? What are your strengths as a blogger thus far? What advice would you give yourself for future blogs?
I like the rubric I wrote earlier in the semester. It's based on what I recall using in a previous Roberge Class (701, good times!), and I think it's fair considering that this is graduate-level work with graduate-level expectations for ourselves and our classmates. At the same time, it's only appropriate for some freebies, yes? Even employers allow for the occasional sick day, or playing hookie at Disneyland <ahem>.
To get a grade of A, postings must…demonstrate engagement with the question. Responses should ask questions of the texts and issues at hand and work toward answering those questions. An A posting is both reader-friendly and invites a dialogue with classmates who may be posting in reply. A-quality posts pull in ideas from class discussion and from other texts from this semester or even from outside reading, previous classes, etc.

B postings…meet most of the criteria above but do not often synthesize that week’s topic with outside materials. Questions asked do not move the class conversation forward. B-quality postings may be difficult to read, either because the writer attempts an overly-formal style unsuited to peer dialogue or due to awkward blog styling, format and colors.
C postings…are just kind of there. Questions and responses are perfunctory. Blogs are completed but not posted in time to allow feedback and discussion among peers.
To evaluate myself to date, I think until this week I had a solid A on my blogs. Every assignment was completed, and I just don't waste time writing half-assed blogs; I at least made a solid attempt to fully engage with the texts and ask questions that came up for me during the readings. I have also been consistent in reading and responding to my fellow-bloggers.
This week has been more shoddy. I'm doing my blogs the day of, which is totally unlike me, and I have two blogs still to write. I'm pretty sure I'll only have time to write one of them, so put me down for one missed blog for the semester right now. I don't think this is a drastic lapse in my academic success for the semester, though, so shall we put me at an A-? Sure, let's say A-.
Cheers. You will not see me in class this week. I feel a wreck (which is why I'm announcing the brain power for just one more blog before I rediscover my bed....).
